DCstockphoto Contributors Info

Submissions

We will offer images of the Washington, D.C., and Maryland and Virginia metro area. We are looking for less of the usual images of DC, i.e. the monuments, White House and Capitol, but more of all those other institutions, businesses and obscure monuments and parks in the area.

The stock photography market for the traditional stock images of Washington is very saturated, the goal of this site will be to provide a far more diverse collection of the DC area.

Images we want:

  • First, take a look at what is there - if you have shots of places not in the catalog, we may want it.
  • We want photos of what is new and exciting, a big market for our images will be travel related, and those buyers want fresh information.
  • Identifiable places - the fronts of buildings and signs.
  • We will consider images of the major monuments and buildings, but really only want exceptional ones.

Things we do not want:

  • Ten shots of the same thing taken five feet from each other.
  • The same shot converted into blue, red, green or other modification. Most buyers will be able to do this, and we are limited in storage space.
  • A picture of the food that was served at some new restaurant (we want the interior decor or an exterior shot).
  • News photos.

Model Release

Photo with recognizable people should have a model release. Photos of public figures are exempt from this rule (though currently we are not looking for news photos).

All RF images MUST have valid model and property releases for recognizable people and private properties and any distinguishable trademarks must be cleared.

You can should include a copy of the release with the image submission for us to keep on file.

  • Uploading

Contributors are able to directly upload your images on the site via FTP. You will be given
your own ftp area to upload where you will have access to your photos, but others will not.

    Keywords

Contributors will need to input the metadata on each image, which can be done before or after submittal.
